A new
vision
in
aquascaping

Our mission is to create eco-friendly aquascapes using innovative and beautifully handcrafted replicas.

Blue iQuatics was formed out of a passion for all things aquatic and a desire to do things differently than what we could find in the current market. The shift to a sustainable, eco-friendly product has been going on for quite some time but we feel that the overall look of the current products didn’t meet our aquascaping desires. Our goal is to have the most natural looking habitats while limiting our impacts on nature. Blue iQuatics was founded by Matt Bricknell, a hobbyist for nearly 30 years. Matt’s love for everything aquariums is only eclipsed by Christ and family. He resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his wife and two kids.

The
Beginning

On the eve of founder Matt Bricknell’s 10th birthday, he had a sleepover at his house with his brother and his best friend. Matt woke up the next morning to find his birthday present from his parents; his first fish tank, and a passion was born that morning. Matt is just like you. He’s a hobbyist that loves everything aquariums - everything from the dreaming, planning, building, visiting local fish stores, club meetings, conventions, and so on.

When Matt turned sixteen, he transitioned to saltwater and hasn’t looked back. His first saltwater tank was a 35-gallon fish-only that moved with him away to college, and when he graduated college, he also graduated to a 120-gallon full reef tank. He spent countless hours dreaming and planning on that reef tank and every other tank since. Matt’s current setup includes both a coral and fish quarantine system, 50-gallon lagoon, 60-gallon macro algae display, 60-gallon cryptic refugium, 300-gallon SPS reef, and a 380-gallon mixed reef that uses the Live Rock Replica line.

What We
Do Now

With the transition away from wild harvested live rock, the hobby industry has been coming up with a variety of alternative ways to aquascape our tanks. There are plenty of options on the market, but none of them quite piqued the interest and excitement for building a reef quite like the products that Blue iQuatics is offering, and we hope you are as excited to build your next eco/reef friendly aquascape as we are.

Why We Do It

Matt is passionate about aquariums but was growing frustrated of fumbling through bins of “live rock” and shelves of dry rock searching for the “perfect” pieces, only to end up compromising. Matt knew that if he felt this way, there must be thousands of other hobbyists out there dealing with the same frustrations when creating their aquascapes… so Blue iQuatics was born.
